Biochem/physiol Actions
RuvB-like 2 (RUVBL2) plays a regulatory role in the Fanconia anemia (FA) pathway, the assembly of the telomerase holoenzyme, and nonsense-mediated mRNA decay (NMD). It may play a role in tumorigenesis and cancer progression. Overexpression of the RUVBL2 protein is observed in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), renal cell carcinoma, colorectal cancer, gastric cancer, breast cancer, and salivary gland cancer. It can be used as a promising target for preventing and treating HCC.

General description
RuvB-like 2 (RUVBL2), a transcription factor, belongs to the AAA+ protein subfamily of conserved ATPases linked with diverse cellular functions. A distinctive domain II (DII) protrudes from one side of the hexamer and defines two separate faces of the ring in RUVBL2.
Immunogen
The epitope recognized by PLA0259 maps to a region between residue 1 and 50 of human RuvB-like 2 using the numbering given in entry NP_006657.1 (GeneID 10856).
Other Notes
RuvB-like 2 (RuvBL2) is the second human homologue of the bacterial RuvB gene. Bacterial RuvB protein is a DNA helicase essential for homologous recombination and DNA double-strand break repair. Functional analysis showed that this protein has both ATPase and DNA helicase activities [taken from NCBI Entrez Gene (GeneID: 9400)].
Physical form
